PETITJEAN has its own on-site galvanizing facility: "Galva Express" and is a member of the Galvazinc Association.

Galvanization: the most economical system of protection, ensuring long-lasting protection.

• PHYSICAL PROTECTION

To hot dip galvanize a metal item, it is first cleaned and fluxed then dipped into a bath of molten zinc (at 450°C).

This process gives galvanization its specific qualities:

- Ideal attachment of the zinc coating
- Corrosion resistance
- Abrasion resistance
(A certain aptitude for deformation) limited suseptability to damage.

• PROCESS :

ATTACHMENT

DEGREASING : Dissolution of any greasy material (alkaline solution)

RINSING Elimination of the acid solution (clear water)

CLEANING Elimination of rust and calamine (50% solution hydrochloric acid)

RINSING Elimination of the acid solution (clear water)

FLUXING Facilitate the zinc grip Protection against oxidisation before galvanization (zinc chloride and ammonia)

DRYING Heating of the item to avoid splashing of zinc.

GALVANIZATION : Deposit of zinc on all the item's surfaces (zinc Zi - 99.5% guaranteed on first fusion).

UNHOOKING

We also have various metallographic testing materials for:

- Preparing samples (cutting, polishing, finishing)
- Measuring thicknesses
- Measuring hardness

Performance:
The dimensions enable us to galvanise very large items in a single operation.

At the request of customers the double-dip galvanization process enables the processing of larger items.

Petitjean is capable of galvanizing more than 200 tonnes of steel per day.
